Who is eligible
- Professional and Non-professional Recreation and Park Department Employees.
- Volunteer Recreation, Park and Playground workers.
- College Students majoring in the field of recreation.
- Individual Members of the NRPA.
Amount of Coverage
$1,000,000 per occurrence or $500,000 per occurrence as selected.
This policy will be issued on an occurrence basis, including the following significant provisions:
- Policy limit includes defense, investigative and all other related costs.
- Policy limit is a per occurrence limit regardless of the number of insureds involved in incident.
- Sponsoring organization is not an additional named insured.
A choice of Two Liability Limits:
$1,000,000 or $500,000 per occurrence

What is covered
- Actual or alleged negligence by the insured recreation employee or commissioner while acting with the scope of their duties granted to them by the sponsoring organization: Work at Recreation Centers and Playgrounds, Parks, Swimming Pools, Ice and Roller Rinks, Day Camps, Team Sports (Baseball, Basketball, Football, etc.) Arenas and Stadiums, Golf Courses, Zoos, Organized Trips and Tours.
- False arrest, detention or imprisonment, or malicious prosecution, libel, slander or defamation of character.
- Invasion of privacy, wrongful eviction, or wrongful entry.
What is not covered
- Liability arising out of the use of automobiles and other means of transportation, including draft or saddle animals and watercraft.
- Use of any explosives, fireworks or pyrotechnic devices of any kind.
- Employment related practices.
- Medical payments
- Self-employment, volunteer activities outside scope of defined “business pursuits,” conducting of tours abroad, ownership of summer camps and/or overnight camps or similar activities, work at overnight camps and/or similar activities.
- Liability resulting from waterslides.
- Trampolines, gymnastics, wrestling, boxing, motorsports, martial arts, rope training, mountain climbing, (including indoor and outdoor manmade practice areas), bungee jump, horseback riding and/or equestrian related activities, rodeo, downhill skiing, snowboarding, climbing walls, amusement devices, inflatables and concerts.
- Rape, molestation or sexual abuse.
- Corporal punishment
- Counseling services
- Medical services
Special Provisions & Conditions
This coverage is in excess of any other valid or collectable insurance.
Terms of Insurance
Coverage becomes effective January 1st or on the day following the date of the application and payment are mailed to the program manager as shown on the postmark, whichever is later. Premiums are fully earned regardless of effective date.
